*takes deep breath*
I didn't think the week could get crazier. It didn't really, but it feels like it. I'm thankful for many things. I've found I really need to be thankful for things I've taken for granted... especially electric appliances!
For example, I've mentioned clothes washers, but I'm also thankful for:
33. Stoves - Our range broke. *sigh* And it's less than 1.5 years old. We're not feeling so bereaved about the oven (because we rarely bake). Plus, we have a little electric burner so we can make meals (albeit slowly). But we have a big potluck dinner the day after tomorrow, and we Chinese people love our stir-fry. Can't very well have a party on salad alone (although with all those FRESH organic veggies, we might get along just fine ;-) ). BUT - I am thankful for the many many years we've had access to a stove with 4 elements. Quite efficient, if you ask me :) .
34. Digital Cameras (DSLR and Point-and-shoot and mobile, etc.) - I just realized today, I've finally turned into one of those teenagers that takes snapshots of the world ... with a cellphone ... almost all the time. Think of it. Only about 8-10 years ago, digital cameras were not affordable to us middle-class people. I remember when I was little, it was always a GREAT privilege to be allowed to take pictures with the camera... for fear of wasting film. Now, "Oh wow, I took fifty bad shots." (goes home and uploads everything onto the computer) *Ctrl+A and Del* !! No waste or loss... It's so easy to share. There's nothing to complain about when you remember trying to organize thousands on pictures into photo albums and labeling everything. And then mailing out the pictures to friends *oh the horror* . I'm so thankful I live in this "Information/Cyber Age". :)
Non electric stuff:
35. Bananas - Besides the fact they are delicious and mighty reservoirs of potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, and Vitamin C, they make morning smoothies oh so rich and creamy, substantiate as a quick source of starchy sugars, AND the frozen version, when blendered with a little milk/yogurt, makes quick ice-cream on a hot day ==> mouth-watering. So thankful God created such a versatile fruit.
