Thankful Thursday V

SORRY!! I know I'm a whole 2 days late on this, but I haven't really been on the computer starting Wednesday evening, 'til now :P .  But I was definitely thinking what to post all day Thursday.  Only the last one I thought up today:

11. Blue Skies - ok, here in NC, I see blue skies a lot.  And not just a little patch once a day in a mass of clouds further than the eye can see.  I mean deep, rich, CLEAN, beautiful, AZURE heavens stretching beyond the horizon; the kind that makes you sigh a happy sigh.  Sometimes, a few big puffy clouds embellish the view, the best is when it's a big blue canvas for you to look up into and think, "Wow, what a wonderful God my Creator is." :D  And I'm really thankful, because I've been places where you never see the sun... well, for 26 days at least.  Beijing, China, in April 2006, dust storms filthying the city in a layer of dust.  It's a dark-ish, gloomy gray, with no sign of the gorgeous expanse aforementioned.  I'm telling you, the sky is lovely to behold when you haven't seen it for a month... and then you're REALLY thankful.

12. Pillows - I could go into detail describing the array of pillows manufactured around the world.  But I'm going to limit myself to the one I use on my bed generally at night.  I'm a side sleeper with broad shoulders.  Yes, I know the missionaries out in the wild are content with a sheet on the dirt floor, but that just makes me more thankful for the soft, comfy, downy, package of Egyptian, hypoallergenic, white cotton, in my favorite flannel pillowcase that makes sure my neck doesn't cramp all night.  You can lie down anywhere and rest, but it doesn't feel like sleeping, unless you've got the pillow.  PLUS - it's a place to bury my face in when I want to scream, cry, whimper, hold my breath,  tell stories nobody should have to suffer listening to, etc. (just kidding, not the last one, as I don't do well with creativity).

13. My mother - yes, Mother's day was this past Sunday.  I want to say, I'm thankful that my mother pushed me when I really felt like quitting.  And you know what, she never stops telling me to not stop (read that again).  She just told me and my sister today, when we were bemoaning how difficult our new piano concertos were,
"Do you know, every year, twice a year, you whimper and complain about how difficult your pieces are?  Once - when you are first figuring out the piece, and once - when you make the last push for the competition crunch?  Every year, you push yourself through it. And every year, you get better.  That's the only way to improve."
I had to step back and think.  Wow, for 12 years.  Twelve years... my mother has been giving me the motivation to continue in my piano studies.  For TWELVE YEARS, twice a year --> that's a total of 24 times so far (25th currently).  And I have 2 sisters and that rounds up to about SIXTY TIMES.  Every single time, she gives the same words of wisdom to us.  And while somehow every year, we manage to forget twice, she has the patience and love to keep us going.  I love you, Mother, and thank God for you always.

Everyone have a great rest of the weekend :) .

  1. We enjoy those blue skies too - they really give you a feel for the vastness of the universe! our Grandmother helps us appreciate them because she used to live where they had perennial clouds.

And I agree - Moms are truly awesome :-)

Internal Emotional Wearing-down

Where I've come from: I have been driven by fear and a desire to please people. I hate that. I thought I could live for my own values and beliefs... but I haven't been able to. Not until this past Sunday. I told my mother off... I was breaking down inside. I have wanted to die for over a year now. Everything seemed hopeless. Not so much for me, but for my purpose and effective work on planet earth. I saw no fruit. I could labor for the rest of my days to live and serve my God. And never ever see the results... and not that I need to see something... but because I knew that what I did WAS POINTLESS. I was doing nothing. And it was because in my mother's eyes, I would never be ready. I would never be enough. She thought she was protecting. She wasn't letting me grow. I can't do more if all you let me do is what is safe. ~CJ

Thankful Thursday XI

Aaaggghhh... I am so behind in the blogging world, like one of my friends says, " it's not even funny. " *sighs*  And I didn't get the chance to blog the Phriday Photos / Funnies - so I'll do a double one tomorrow :) . Anyways - what I'm thankful for this week: 30. BLOGS!!! - I'll admit it. When I first heard the word "blog", I thought the cyberworld couldn't get any sillier.  Well, way to go, CJ. Just join the silliness. Evidently the silliness has its advantages O.O . It's a place for me to rant, rave, and ramble, whether or not my readers want to see it.  It helps me organize my wordy thoughts.  And!! I can share what's been on my mind without having to know if people are looking at me strangely... hehe.  A more serious reason: I can share and read other's testimonies on how God is answering prayers: Answereth All !! *big smile* 31. 2 jobs - It's strange to say my piano teaching is a job, since I really enjoy telli...

"No. It doesn't pay," said Davy. "Well, Davy, just tell God you are sorry and ask Him to forgive you." "Have YOU forgiven me, Anne?" "Yes, dear." "Then," said Davy joyously, "I don't care much whether God does or not." "Davy!" "Oh -- I'll ask Him -- I'll ask Him," said Davy qu...
