Is it strange that I find it easier to read through my Calculus, Physics, or Human Anatomy textbooks, than it is to read the 4th chapter of Pickwick Papers?
While part of that is my personality... the other is both alarming and dangerous. Ever since I started my college degree, (well, more like high-school) let's just say leisure reading allowance plummeted to zilch. I could feel my vocabulary levels decreasing and my communicating skills (scanty as they were) diminishing.
Sooooooooo...
I've decided to make some huge reading goals this week (ending Sunday, May 29th, 2011, 11:59pm) to kick off better reading habits.

I've decided to make some huge reading goals this week (ending Sunday, May 29th, 2011, 11:59pm) to kick off better reading habits.
- Read 7 books of the Bible, specifically Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Luke, John, Acts, and Romans. The first three are definitely hard reads; hopefully, I can get through them.
- Finish the Pickwick Papers... yes, the one that's more difficult than schoolbooks.
- Peruse three of C.S. Lewis' nonfictional works: Reflections on the Psalms, The Four Loves, and The Business of Heaven.
- Devour the 7 Chronicles of Narnia (the fun part of my "read-a-thon"). Hey, I might as well refresh my memory on what happened exactly so I can better judge the movies coming out once bi-yearly.
- Optional: Hearts of Fire. This is only optional, not because it isn't worth reading, but because I think I've made enough goals this week. I definitely want to finish reading this (I've read the first few pages of the first chapter and it's intriguing!). Perhaps next time...
Well, I better get reading... if you have suggestions for what other books I should read in future "read-a-thons", do tell. :)

Those are some impressive reading goals! Kudos to you for making them :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been realizing that I need to do more reading too, so I've been increasing my reading time over the past few weeks.
I've been doing ok on the Bible books and Narnia, but I haven't even touched C.S. Lewis' non-fiction works and am behind in Pickwick Papers :-P . I hope I can fulfill them! We'll see.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I didn't realizing just quite how much I was missing until I started :-).
