What's really bad about not being a "crier"? You know - the kind of people who easily cry from sorrow, pain, grief, or from joy or any little thing ... and it's usually girls, too. Those who aren't "criers" (like me - ask my family) - with tear-duct relevant medical conditions ... they suffer, surprisingly. They can't cry at will! It's one of those moments you need tears and those little tunnels won't produce any salty solution to moisten your corneae and pour over your cheeks! Which of those moments is worst?
When you're cutting raw onions...
Yes, I despise cutting onions and stir-frying them. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy eating them. It's just the sulfuric acid formed from the propanethiol S-oxide and water BURNS!! And it only gets worse, because you don't have water (from your tears) to wash it away, AND the little water that is formed only continues to react with enzymes to create stinging sulfuric acid.
I like using the little bit of chemistry I learned in everyday life... and I still dislike cutting onions. It's always - hurry, hurry, hurry, chop, chop, COOK, YOU ONIONS!!

That post made my eyes water. Seriously. You did a very good job vividly describing the torture that is preparing onions!
ReplyDeleteYikes! That was not my intention at all! I just wanted to vent about them and that ^^^ is what came of it, lol. Thanks, anyway :) .
